2 Weeks Down!

Well, Spencer has been gone two weeks:( It sucks, but at least we have two weeks down. I guess we'll see how the rest of the time goes. I wish he would be home before Christmas, but I am afraid that isn't going to happen. I am glad that he ended up not leaving until the first week in April since the original plan was that he was leaving the middle of March so at least we got a few extra weeks. It was hard, but at least I get to talk to him every day too so that makes it easier. I wish he were home, but its nice to have friends that are going through the same thing.

Blogging Again!

Well, we'll see how long it lasts (i'm not very good at staying up on websites lately:) but I am going to start blogging again. I have changed my background to support my hubby who may or may not be getting deployed this weekend. It is still very up in the air and we have no idea. But for the last several months this is what has been going on...
December, I graduated from SUU!!! Well, I finished school, but I don't officially graduate until May 1. Either way I am way excited! Spencer got back from training right before December and was able to spend Thanksgiving with the family before we moved to Fort Riley Kansas to be at his first duty station with the BIG RED 1. Pretty crazy.

January, Spencer's unit got deployed. He was staying back with the rear detachment and would leave in February with the rest of Signal Company. Other than that big piece of news, we are getting to know Junction City and figuring out where everything is. Every weekend we go for a drive to a different place around the area. We have checked out pretty much every town and city within an 80 mile radius! It has been a lot of fun getting to know a new area and finding fun and exciting things to do. I have been searching for a job as well. It came as a disappointment that in Kansas, you have to have a degree in Social Work, not Sociology to do social work, unlike Utah where either degree is sufficient for a job in the area. So I won't be able to do anything with my degree while we live here:( All that schooling and now I can't even do anything with it..at least for a while.

February, more exploring, more job searching, more time with Spencer. We found out that Spencer wasn't getting deployed after all and was going to be able to stay back for the entire deployment and help in the offices. His first sargant really likes him so it was going to work out for him to stay.

March, now, a week before the rest of Spencer's unit is to deploy, he may end up having to go after all. We still have no idea. I'm still hoping he doesn't go, but it's not up to me unfortunately. I found a job though, working at the hospital here (not the Army hospital) as a receptionist so that should be good. It will be nice to have the extra income too. I can't wait to start, but right now I am having to fill out TONS of paperwork AND I have to get shots!! Blah! Hopefully, I can actually start on Monday, and hopefully Spencer doesn't leave this weekend.

April Showers Bring May Flowers!

A girl in my class today said, April Showers are supposed to bring May flowers - not "April snows kill the freaken flowers!!" It was pretty funny and so true! It has been snowing like a blizzard all day today and I got to walk all over campus in it too! My pants were honestly wet up to my knees just from the slush and everything. It wasn't fun. On a good note though, my presentation went extremely well. I was very happy.

What's New

Well, only 32 days left until school is out! It is so exciting! I actually think I am going to pass these classes with A's instead of B's and C's! That's gotta be good right!? Haha. I can't wait for summer though so that I can scrapbook scapbook scrapbook!!! With Spencer gone and me not having a job, I will get to catch up on my scrapbooking some. I actually did a page last night. It was from Christmas....of 1998!! So it would be nice to get some scrapbooking done and get somewhat caught up!

Well, Spencer is preparing to go into the army. Because he has his Eagle Scout, he can go in as an E-2 which is pretty good, but if he can do X number of pushups and X number of situps and run 2 miles in X amount of time then he can go in as an E-3 which is a Private First Class. That just puts him one step closer to becoming a Warrant Officer which is what he has to be to become a helicopter pilot. So that's what's new with him. He is working his butt off and running every morning and do situps and pushups every morning and night. I'm so proud of him for being so persistent.

Me on the other hand, have put in for a job at Storyteller Club which is a digital scrapbooking place. My mother-in-law and I have both applied as a group. If we get the job, then we get to travel the country and go to scrapbooking shows and try to sell Storytellers product. We would be gone Wednesday thru Sunday, but I figured it will keep me busy while Spencer is gone so it should be good! I just hope I get the job! It would be fun to spend some time with Susan too. We always have fun together.

I always hate doing a new post without pictures so I will try to update with pictures next time!

Spring Break Cont...

Well, on Thursday, the Shay and the kids came up for the day and we went to Discovery Park. It is probably the funnest park ever. Even Shay and I played and had fun. I got some way cute pictures while we were there so here is some of them...

Spring Break!

I started my Spring Break off with my mom and my seester at our annual scrapbooking retreat in Salina. We had a ton of fun and did lots of fun projects. We go with some friends of my moms and go to dinner the night before and have to go to Walmart for a while and then go to the retreat the next day.

Then on Monday and Tuesday, Spencer was gone to Salt Lake to sign papers to join the Army. I know...crazy right?! Well, thats what he decided to do and I am supporting him however I can so thats whats happening. He is shipping out on May 19, and will pretty much be gone until December. Its going to be really hard, especially with everyone else leaving Cedar too. My sister in law is moving clear to Sierra Vista which is on the Mexican border and my only friend in Cedar is getting married and moving to Vegas. Her roommate who I am good friends with too is moving to Salt Lake to do her student teaching so I won't have anybody left here. At least family lives close though.
For St Patricks Day, Spence got home late, but I did corn beef and cabbage and then we had Sparkling Apple Cider with a couple drops of green food coloring in it. It turned out kind of fun.

Catch Up!

Well, as you probably have noticed, school has already caught up with me and I am busy busy busy! I haven't updated my blog for quite some time so I will do a quick catch up. Well, the beginning of the year didn't start out too happily for us. Spencer's grandpa passed away on the 8th of January and it was really hard for his family. It was expected but still hard. This was the first big thing Spencer and I have had to deal with since we got married. There haven't been any deaths, or traumatic experiences since we got married in either of our families.
On a happier note, Malea turned 1!! She was so cute with her little cupcake. She went to town eating that thing, although it seemed like she enjoyed the plate more than the cupcake!

We got another big snowstorm that put down about 9-10" in one night so that wasn't any fun. The big pile of snow is just the snow from our front porch all piled together.

And lastly, Superbowl! My friend Amanda had a Superbowl party, but Spencer was still in Kanab so I went alone. It was pretty fun though. I enjoyed myself. Her and her boyfriend just got engaged during the last month so that is way exciting too. Her and my best friend from Dixie both have gotten engaged in the last 2 months. It's so exciting!

Oh, and one more thing! I am getting way excited for my mom's scrapbooking retreat this weekend! It is going to be so much fun! We have all the projects ready to go and we have a lot more people coming this time compared to the last one so it is going to be way fun! I can't wait to see if people enjoy everything as much as last time!

Husband Tag

1. How long did you date before you got married? We were best friends for about 7 months before we started dating and then we dated for a year and 4 months before we got engaged and then were engaged for 4 months before we were married.
2. How long have you been married? A year and 5 months.
3. What does he do that surprises you? He surprises me daily with all sorts of different things. Sometimes he surprises me by being romantic, other times he surprises me by how out of it he can be and not even realize it.
4. What is his best feature? His smile. Hes got way cute dimples and pretty teeth and his smile always makes me smile.
5. What is his best quality? He is so adventurous. He is always up for anything...unless of course it involves other people...he is way too shy for his own good.
6. Does he have a nickname for you? Not really...he pretty much calls anyone "dude" so I guess you could say that. Otherwise its just mal or malmal.
7. What is his favorite color? Green or blue.
8. What is his favorite animal? Dogs I guess but he loves all sorts of animals. Hes a hunter so you can do the math in that way.
9. What is his favorite food? Spencer is the pickiest person in the world. He likes Mexican, but only when it is "Americanized" Mexican food (Taco Bell), he likes Italian but to him that pretty much is spaghetti and lasagna, he loves Chinese though with no stipulations on that one so I guess his favorite food would probably be chinese or just good old american cheese burger or steak dinners.
10. What is his favorite sport? Spencer doesn't really like sports all that much. He likes to play basketball with my nephews and he played little league football years ago, but he never really played any sports in high school. He was always the outdoorsy person so I guess if you consider four wheeling and rock crawling a sport, those would be his favorite.
11. When and where did you first kiss? Well, its really sad, but neither of us can remember "when" our first kiss was, but we both remember where. It was in my mom's living room, watching a movie. (not very romantic!)
12. Favorite thing to do as a couple? Watch movies movies movies!!! Thats our favorite thing mainly because we have no money right now to do anything else, but we usually like to go out shooting, four wheeling, bowling is always fun together.
13. Do you have any children? No, not yet!
14. Does he have a hidden talent? He is the best driver ever! (hopefully he doesn't read this or he will get a big head!) He had friends get stuck all the time in high school and he was always the one they would call to help them get out. They would have dug themselves into a hole so deep it would seem like they were never getting out, but good ol' Spence would hop in and get them out within 10 minutes tops! Plus, now he is driving for his job so I guess he better be good at it!
15. How old is he? 20
16. Who said 'I love you' first? Well, whenever he used to say something funny I would always say, "gosh I love you. your so funny" or something to that effect, and it slowly turned into me actually meaning that I really loved him and he started to say it back. So I guess I said it first.
17. What is his favorite music? Country
18. Do you think he will read this? Probably not unless I tell him to! I don't think he even knows our blog address!

Another Fun Weekend

This weekend we went to Salt Lake to visit my friends Sami and Mike! I haven't seen them since my wedding so I was so excited to get to visit them. Last year they came to see us, and the year before that, we went to Elko to see them, so this year we decided to meet in the middle. It was a pretty fun trip except fort the weather. There was supposed to be a storm from Alaska and Canada moving down so it was supposed to dump snow on pretty much all of Utah. Well, the whole weekend was pretty cold, but we waited and waited for snow, but all we ever got was maybe an inch. Then we found out that back at home in Cedar, that we had gotten like 5 inches. Here it is 2 days later and we are still getting snowed on! There was a really cool looking mountain on the way up that looked like it had a spaceship sitting on top of it or something like that and it looked so cool that I took a picture.

We went to quite a few stores so that they could finish their Christmas shopping and we just tagged along. We went to Target where Spencer decided it would be funny to attack me with a tree skirt. Sam started laughing so we put one on her too and got a picture.

We pretty much hung out at Cabellas a majority of the day on Saturday and got some pictures while we were there too. I think people probably thought we were crazy tourists or something snapping pictures all over Cabellas, but it was fun anyways. Sami and I kissing the Cabellas moose.

Spencer with a bird decoy on his head!

All in all, it was a great weekend. We got to eat at Cafe Rio, we went to the Boondocks which is like Fiesta Family Fun Center kind of place and it was way fun. I was hoping that they had one of those Dance Dance Revolution games because those are my favorite, but I didn't see one. Then I found Sam doing one! I was so excited so her and I did that thing honestly like 8 times! I was so dead afterwards. I am still sore today and that was Saturday night! We played laser tag too and so it was pretty fun. I was sad to have to say goodbye, but it was definitely nice to go home and relax too. This is what we came home to though. These were taken today, not over the weekend, but this has been accumulating since Saturday!
